Who Can Go: Anyone currently in the LSM, as well as our current 6th graders (as of fall 2025), are eligible to join this trip. While the trip is designed to challenge and transform our junior high students, high school students are an essential part of the experience, joining to lead, mentor, and serve alongside them.
On Sunday morning, we will load the rented vans and journey to Impact Church of Christ in Houston, TX. The church building will serve both as our sleeping quarters at night and our main location for service during the day. Our group will be responsible for preparing and running VBS rotations, with each teen paired with 2–4 children throughout the week to help with worship, reading skills, and relationship-building. This approach fosters mentor-like connections rather than a traditional classroom environment, allowing relationships to grow naturally over the week.
In addition to our work at Impact from 9 AM–3 PM, we will engage in evening service projects designed to challenge our students in new ways, helping them discover their gifts and understand what it means to love their neighbor. Past evening projects have included serving at women’s shelters, participating in prayer walks, assisting at local food banks, organizing and distributing groceries, and visiting nursing homes. We will conclude our service on Thursday, and new this year, we are adding a special celebration on Friday and Saturday to reward our students for all their hard work with a fun adventure before we return home on Saturday, June 27.
